This semester, you will learn about Shakespeare's language, study some of his more controversial works, analyze the significance of adaptation, and
explore meaning in poems and plays.
Shakespeare Concordance: use this tool to search for specific terms to
see how they are used throughout a text or texts.
Shakespeare Illustrated: a DH project that has collected information and images of
paintings of scenes from Shakespeare's plays throughout history.
Shakespeare in Quarto: this project from the British Library provides information
about the publication history of the plays and allows you to compare the different Quarto versions of some of the plays. Information about Shakespeare's source
texts is also included.
Folger Shakespeare Library: this library, located in Washington D.C., is
one of the premiere Shakespeare libraries in the world. They publish editions of Shakespeare texts (recommended for this class) and have many online
resources.
The Holinshed Project: Holinshed's Chronicles is a source that
Shakespeare returned to often in his work, particularly for the history plays. This DH project has digitized and made searchable this important British
historical text.
